Pantry Challenge Update

Just a quick update on my Pantry Challenge tonight:

It's been 4 days since I've bought any food.  Amazing!

Here's what I ate today-
Breakfast- Whole wheat toast with Earth Balance and miso
Snack- Hot chocolate with almond milk (I had this in the fridge at work) and homemade granola
Lunch- Leftover Indian style chickpea-tomato soup with toasted pita bread and GF Chocolate ganache cookie
Dinner- Grilled "cheeze" sandwich, apple, and homemade pickles
Snack- Popcorn with flax oil and nutritional yeast
Second Dinner- Potato, carrot, and celery soup

I'd say I'm eating pretty good for someone who "can't" grocery shop!

I did stop by the co-op tonight to refill my jug with filtered water.  I almost bought something else since I felt guilty writing a check or charging $1.20.  But I resisted.

maybe i should do this! i have so much that needs to get used up but i keep buying more food. i don't think i could go without at least some fresh food like bananas though so i don't know how long my challenge would last. hmmmm. good luck with your pantry challenge!

you're doing great on your pantry challenge! the hardest thing for me to not buy throughout the week is fresh produce. it seems like i use up most of what i buy in the first few dinners i cook, and then i'm stuck with no veggies to put in meals for the remaining days. you're doing much better than i would do haha...

You are doing the same challenge as I am. Our pantry is overflowing with crap. Last night we had top ramen, garlic olives and veggie chili.

Well done with the pantry challenge so far! I'm basically doing that right now, too -- too poor to shop, just like you!

P.S. I finally got around to the seven random things meme -- thanks for the tag!

Thanks so much for this post. I have actually wondered why I go shopping, as I have no room left in cupboards and refrigerator some times to put the freshly bought food. So ... I'm not shopping except for fresh, until my cupboards are empty and the condiments are being used up. You have been my mentor for this.

congratulations on your pantry eating! It's kind of fun/ingenious to try, isn't it? And I love that feeling of being so outside the system! Makes everything taste more independant and sweet. :p
