Pantry Challenge Time!

Uh oh.  It's that time again.  My pantry is overflowing and I overspent my grocery budget this month by $182.  I admit to grocery shopping for entertainment on at least 4 occasions this month.  Time for a pantry challenge!!!

Last November I did the same thing.  Maybe there's just something about November that makes me ignore my grocery budget?  Probably my hibernation instincts kicking in.

Anyways, I have split peas and brown rice in the crockpot soaking right now.  My lunch is packed, so there's no excuse for buying lunch at work tomorrow.  Next I have to decide if bread and/or kids lunch stuff is an exception to the pantry challenge rule or not.  Probably not.

And I might need an exception to stock up on the Yogi Teas that are on sale this month.  Wish me luck!

Hehe, I love knowing that the foodie blogosphere is full of others who enjoy grocery shopping as much as I do!

Good luck with the pantry challenge, though!

Shopping for food is one of my favorite things, I always feel so inspired wandering around the grocery store and imagining the different meals I could make with all the tasty ingredients. So I definitely know what you mean about grocery shopping for entertainment! Good luck with your challenge! ;-)

How long will your pantry challenge last for?

I think I may be doing a pantry challenge myself this month. Not because I over shopped but just because I have too much and it should be eaten instead of just stored! Good luck on your challenge!

Grocery shopping for entertainment is one of my *favorite* pastimes, lol! BUT, since I too am on a tight budget,I feel your pain. Sometimes I will just stand in the store picking out things I WISH I could buy or that I WOULD buy if only I could afford to...it is not nearly as fun as actually buying them, though :-)

Could Thanksgiving have anything to do with going over budget in November?

Good luck with the challenge. I've found myself in similar situations before and worked through some items I couldn't remember why I purchased in the first place.

I regularly grocery shop for entertainment on my lunch hour... wandering the aisle of the only health food store in my town.

I am doing a modified pantry/fridge challenge myself for the next couple weeks... I have a bunch of stuff in the fridge that needs using. I made a huge pot of veggie miso soup yesterday to use up tons of veggies that were losing their oomph. I'm looking forward to seeing what you create!

Food shopping is my weakness as well. There is always something new I see that I must have. My safest thing to do is start with a menu plan and list of items. The menu plan of course is just a guideline cuz I will change it up a bit when I get home but it does help with the pocketbook.

I am happy to read that I am not the only person who grocery shops for fun. :)
