Gosh- I can't believe I didn't post anything all weekend! I guess that just goes along with the cleaning, laundry, and baking that I didn't get around to...
But I did get my new canning pantry set up. I know I already posted a picture- But this one is better!
Here's the naked stairway area with the reinforced shelves.
And here's a better look at all the canned goodies. I had to make some jam-print cookies last night after I realized just how many jars of jam I had. It might be a bit excessive.
And here's the yellow paint in my hair.
It feels great to have this project done. Now it's time to do that baking I didn't do this weekend.
It's so insanely cold today that I can't bring myself to go back to the store, but I promised the kids that they'd get to have vegan hotdogs while the rest of the kids ate meaty hotdogs at the zoo fieldtrip tomorrow. So sorry, gluten free folks. I'm busting out the wheat gluten sausages tonight!

yay! I'm glad you got the shelf painted!
And ohhh my gooooodneesss! Did you make all those preserved foods by yourself???
Now I know who to see when I'm ready to learn how to become a canning maniac!!! :)
P.S. I made your coleslaw recipe tonight. It's amazing! Thanks for sharing! (P.S. Props to you on my blog!)
Hey, I just found your blog through...hmm, I can't remember who it was. Anyway, I was wondering if you maybe had some advice for a novice canner? I am making some pear butter for my friends & family for Christmas, but I've never done it before :)
Anyway, I don't have any fancy equipment or stuff like that, I know you mention you have a pressure canner, but...if you can help at all, I'd appreciate it! You can get my email through my profile, I swear I won't be too annoying, I just don't have anyone else to ask!!
The shelves look lovely painted! And wowzers! You have been preserving up a storm! That lot's going to see you through the winter for sure!
Hmm, I'm very exclamation-y today. Sorry 'bout that.
Mmmm, Not Dogs......>:o)
yay! it looks so good yellow :) really brightens up that staircase. and they're so full of lovely jars of yummies! i can totally take a jar of jam off your hands if you want, haha... but they are most likely put to better use in those thumbprint cookies. have fun making sausages! i always love making those things... it's so easy and they're delicious.
I'm so jealous of your canning prowess! I need to crack down and actually get a canning kit and just DO IT next year. Your shelves look wonderful!
This is the first year in a long time that I haven't canned anything. I even make sauerkraut. So, your lovely, yellow shelf with all the preserves is wonderful to see. As I am not a huge jam "eater", I always used it to make my salad dressing. A dollop of whatever jam you want into a container. Add wine or balsamic vinegar, and a little olive oil, a crushed garlic clove, and voila, strawberry, or raspberry, or orange, or grape vinaigrette. There are lots of uses for jam.

Awesome pantry! I love the yellow.
How do you get the jars down without falling down the stairs? Canning is such a great idea! I need to learn how to do it. My mom used to make rhubarb jam.
neat! and the fake blonde paint highlights suit you well :)
