Martha

I don't normally admit it, but I love Martha Stewart. Okay, maybe not her...but her website, magazine, TV shows, etc. I'm well aware of all the reasons I shouldn't like her. I can't even eat 99% of the foods she cooks. And I know I will get made fun of to no end for admitting my love for the grand matron of housewifery.

I've tried to resist her, but I finally broke down and bought a subscription to Martha Stewart Living. No more desperately speed reading this magazine in the Dr.'s office, library, or from various "free piles". I will own it without shame. My first issue arrived today!

I don't admit it either... I don't love her as a person because I think she's secretly evil (plus, she likes meat too much, and butter.. ew)

But she's so good at what she does, it's inspiring, and I love reading her recipes and magazines.

She's one of those people you love to hate. (I can say the same about Rachael Ray, but that's a whole other story)

My mom made an awesome vegan chocolate cake from a Martha Stewart Magazine--I think it was in the November issue (could have been December--it was a new magazine when I went home for Christmas). It wasn't labelled as vegan but I think it was labelled as cholesterol-free. No soy in it, either.

I covet your Martha Stewart subscription.

Check out body + soul magazine. It is a Martha Stewart magazine and it is so sustainable/green/hippie and I love it. I have only seen it in the airport here in Canada, but I am going to subscribe. I <3 Martha enterprises too. She is just so damn crafty.

ha! I pore over my mother's copies whenever I get the chance, and pretty much have to fight the urge to take a few issues home with me. She makes the cutest damned things!! XP

Ok, I think it is mind + body magazine I was thinking of. In any case it is very cool (and you can tell I haven't subscribed just yet).

I read my sister's cast-off copies with great lust. And no shame whatsoever. Hey, I LOVE Rachel Ray and even though she wouldn't know "vegan" if it hit her in the face, I still take a lot of her ideas and use them in my cooking... with my own twists. Same with Martha.
